There are three primary varieties: one where the bar of the letter "A" in Carte and in Postale is in the shape of a "V" (shown), one with no period after Postkarte, and one where the bar of the letter "A"s is horizontal.

In early printings, this card measured 143x93 mm. In later printings (starting around 1891), it measured 139x90 mm.

The third dotted address line is usually 50 mm long. A variety exists where it is only 46 mm long.

There are two primary varieties: one where the two NB lines are 53.5 mm and 47 mm long, respectively, and one where the lines are only 50 mm and 44 mm long. Note that the second NB line is in old German Gothic script.
